Tom Brenneke founded Guardian in 2002, building it into a leading vertically integrated real estate investment, development, and management firm. Since inception, Guardian has completed over 105 property acquisition and development projects and has owned more than 11,000 multifamily units. The firm’s management portfolio spans Oregon, Washington, Texas, and Arizona, overseeing approximately 12,000–13,000 units. With a deep track record in structuring complex real estate transactions, Tom has positioned Guardian as a trusted operating partner for institutional investors, private equity firms, and impact-driven capital sources. The company is distinguished in affordable housing while also executing large-scale market-rate investments. Guardian’s expertise spans ground-up development, value-add repositioning, and public-private partnerships, delivering strong investment performance and long-term asset value.
Specialities
Tom is an active industry leader and a member of the National Multifamily Housing Council (NMHC), serving on its Workforce Housing committee. He serves on the board of the Oregon Symphony and St. Mary’s Academy High School in Portland. Previously, he was a founding board member of De La Salle North Catholic High School and remains a strong supporter of its Corporate Internship Program, which provides students with hands-on business experience. Tom holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Portland and is a Certified Property Manager®, an Oregon Principal Broker, and a Washington Designated Broker.
